” Beauty is skin deep”, she says already in love with his silky voice and generous heart.
“Even children run away from me”, a sad laugh.
“Because they don’t know to look someone in the eyes, see deep into the soul where true beauty lies”, she says.
Sitting across him at the cafe she struggles to look him in the eye. It would have helped if the other eye wasn’t where the ear should be, she thinks.
Beauty ,unfortunately, matters.

It would take a lot of getting used to. It’s a shame there wasn’t money or some other way to get expert plastic surgery. I’ve seen pictures where even this kind of extreme deformity could be fixed. Well done. —- Suzanne.
