“After I dress can Lucy and I have ice-cream for breakfast”, 3 year old Clara demands. Lucy, her partner-in-crime wags her tail on cue.
“No”, I say firmly immune to their charm.
“Why isn’t Lucy wearing a dress?”
“Because dogs don’t wear clothes”
“Why don’t dogs wear clothes?”
“Because they have fur and hair and all that”
“I have hair too. See mommy. ”
“Clara, humans are expected to wear clothes. Put this on”, I hold out her dress.
“Why are we expected to wear clothes mommy?”
Lucy and Clara look expectantly at me eyes wide. Do they rehearse this?
“Chocolate or Vanilla?”

Ha.. it’s a great moment to teach table manners… making her eat ice-cream naked she will learn not to spill… My mother in law used that trick to teach her kids to eat well (ice-cream on naked skin is very uncomfortable)

I guess one reason was that we lost our fur, maybe to better cool down (endurance runners for hunting, with sweat glands all over our bodies.) And if we want to spread out to colder climates, we need artificial fur. Prudery came later. Sorry for taking a rhetorical question and running away with it.

I would have placed a pickle on top of hers. That way, she could be just as confused as I would and maybe not ask for ice cream for breakfast again.
