The psychic

PHOTO PROMPT - © Marie Gail Stratford

—– Newly married —–

“Where is it?”, the husband asks his mousy wife.

 “What is “it” ?”

“Don’t you know what I’m asking?”

“No”

” A good wife should anticipate the husband’s needs …read his mind”

Wife is speechless.

—- 5 years experience later —-

“Where is it?”, the husband asks.

 “Hallway closet”

“not there”

 “Check the bedroom closet”

“not there”

“Check the bathroom closet”

“Found it”

—- 10 years of experience later —-

“Where is it?”

“Must be where you left it last”

“I don’t see it there”

“Look right in front of you”

“Found it”

—-

“Mom, how do you know what’s “it” ?” .

Mother smiles enigmatically, “It’s a secret”

  10. Shoes in the fridge, baking under the stairs, orange juice under the bed. Only a systematic search finds anything, and then not always. (..but we’re very tidy).

  11. Oh yes! you must have been channelling our breakfast routine this morning. Husband looking for the sun cream before going off to golf… three tubes in three different places but… where is …. Great take on the prompt.

  18. I need someone who can do this for me – or even better, just read my mind and remind me what I walked into this room looking for. That would be half the battle right there. 😉

    • Thank you. She also discovered that you don’t have to know the answers to every question and irrespective of what the “it” is that one is searching for…the answer can be the same 🙂

  20. Have you been listening at my door? This goes on all day long around here. After 33 years together I’ve been known to say, “Behind the cabinet.” “But I didn’t ask you yet.” “Doesn’t matter that’s where you’ll find it.” 🙂

  21. I unspoiled him long ago with lots of “I don’t know”s 🙂 Neat story, loved the flow 🙂

  22. Women are so much better at mind reading than men. After 40 years I still don’t know which do-hicky or do-dad she’s talking about. But I could definitely relate to this story. Great job.

    • Thanks Russell. If you weren’t always thinking about what names to cook for Rochelle every week and listened to your wife now and then, maybe you would know what she is talking about 🙂
